First visit to Coca-Cola Park

I attended my first of many Lehigh Valley IronPigs games last night versus the Norfolk Tides where we lost in the 8th inning 9-6 because a fan reached over the wall and touched the hit. The weather made most of the night miserable because it was a light mist that soaked everything, made for horrible field conditions, and forced most of the crowd underneath the bandstands to jockey for a view of the action. Overall I thought the field looked great. It is impressive to see what 50-million will buy, but depressing to see the amount of fans that showed. I hope it was due to the weather, and not an every game occurrence because if that's the case–I don't know how long the Pigs will be able to survive. One of the things I enjoy most about Citizen's Bank Park is when the bell rings after a homerun from a Phillie. At Coca-Cola park, the pop top raises on the Coke bottle, and fireworks shoot out, so that was pretty neat. I think they push the "Pig" references a little heavy there though (ie. "The Giant Porker Sandwiches", the crowd cheering "Oink, oink, oink!" like it Mighty Ducks, and the plastic pig nostrils they sell over at "The Fan Zone". Overall it was a good night, too bad the Pigs couldn't pull out a win and clench their first series sweep, but I look forward to attending more games this summer when things warm up.

Go Pigs!!!
